1. Information we collect
Guests receive a random browser-based guest identifier. We may store puzzle progress, attempts, scores, hint use, streaks, category preferences, challenge activity and locally saved creator drafts against that identifier. Registered accounts may also include a display name, email address, authentication provider identifier, profile activity, groups, creations, moderation history and the time at which account-age eligibility and the Terms were confirmed.
2. How we use information
We use information to run the game, restore unfinished attempts, calculate scores and rankings, maintain streaks, personalize recommendations, prevent abuse, respond to messages, operate groups and improve PAIR. We do not sell personal information.
3. Guest storage
Guest identity and progress are browser and device specific. Clearing browser storage or changing device may remove local guest progress. Where guest activity is also stored by our backend, the guest ID is required to retrieve it. Creating an account enables cross-device persistence where supported.
4. Authentication and service providers
PAIR may use trusted infrastructure and authentication providers to host the service, secure accounts, process sign-in and measure reliability. Those providers process limited information under their own terms and our instructions as applicable.
5. Security and abuse prevention
We use access controls, validation, rate limits, anti-bot checks and derived identifiers such as hashed network information to protect PAIR. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Retention and your choices
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide PAIR, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and protect the service. You may clear local guest data in your browser. Registered users may contact us to request access, correction or deletion, subject to legal and security requirements.
7. Children and account eligibility
Public PAIRs may be played without an account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. PAIR does not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, a parent or guardian should contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as PAIR develops. Material changes will be indicated by a revised date. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through our Contact page.
