Before sending a notice
Consider whether the material is authorized, licensed, in the public domain, or protected by an exception such as fair use. A copyright notice is a legal request. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation may have legal consequences.
Submit a copyright notice
Use our Contact page, choose Copyright / DMCA notice, and include: identification of the copyrighted work; the specific PAIR or material and enough information for us to locate it; your name and reliable contact details; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act; and your physical or electronic signature.
What happens next
We may request more information, preserve relevant moderation records, restrict or remove the material while reviewing the claim, and notify the contributor. PAIR may terminate accounts used for repeated infringement where appropriate.
Counter-notices
If your material was removed because of a copyright notice and you believe that happened through mistake or misidentification, use the same Contact page and identify the removed material, explain the basis for your good-faith belief, provide your name, address and telephone number, include the jurisdiction and service-of-process statements required by applicable law, and add your physical or electronic signature.
Formal designation
This page provides PAIR’s operational reporting process. A formal statutory agent designation, where applicable, is completed separately with the relevant government authority and is not created merely by publishing this page.
